Model Order Reduction of Multi-Terminal Direct-Current Grid Systems

This paper proposes a methodology to develop linear low-order model of multi-terminal direct-current (MTDC) system connected practically-sized offshore wind farm systems. The method individually linearizes the systems and subsequently performs order reduction (MOR) using iterative rational Krylov algorithm (IRKA). is, therefore, modular approach expandable any number connections. On other hand, non-linearity components are retained. Effectiveness proposed is demonstrated on an MTDC two large-scale models by comparing responses obtained from full (FOM) reduced (ROM). From simulation studies, it can be seen that ROM able maintain high degree accuracy FOM at much faster time, hence this help power operation planning. Various control functionalities strategies, different operating conditions faults also considered investigate robustness method.
